
Golden Globes 2023 to air in India on Lionsgate Play on January 11: All the details

The 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air exclusively on Lionsgate Play in India, the streaming service announced on Wednesday. Lionsgate Play subscribers nationwide can attend the annual awards ceremony live from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., at 6:30 a.m. IST on Jan. 11, according to a press release.
Red carpet coverage of the event, which will see pan-Indian blockbuster RRR compete in the Best Picture – Non-English and Best Original Song – Film (for Telugu song Naatu Naatu) categories, will begin at 5.30am IST. The Golden Globe Awards will also air exclusively on Lionsgate Play in Malaysia and the Philippines.
Amit Dhanuka, Executive Vice President of Lionsgate, said that after a phenomenal year for Lionsgate Play in India, the platform is pleased to add the Golden Globes to its lineup of awards events which already boast Emmys. Awards and the American Music Awards.
“The Golden Globe Awards are viewed in over 220 countries and territories around the world, Lionsgate Play is delighted to announce the exclusive live broadcast in India, Malaysia and the Philippines of the prestigious event for their 80th anniversary,” Dhanuka said in a prepared statement.
From Lionsgate Play, the political series Gaslit earned a nomination for lead star Julia Roberts in the limited series actress category.

Nominations for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards were announced on December 12. The awards, organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), recognize the best in American cinema and television.
Among black talent, the nomination of Niecy Nash (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) could put her on the path to becoming one of the first black actresses to win a Globe for any limited series.
Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) is the second-youngest contender in category history for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series. Other notable nominations include father and son actor stars Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson flying the Irish flag at this year’s awards with The Banshees of Inisherin and The Patient, respectively.
There are 41 debutants in this year’s nomination pool, including music composer RRR MM Keeravani, Julia Garner (Ozark), Adam Scott (Severance), Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Austin Butler (Elvis), Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building), Zendaya (Euphoria) and Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon).
Comedian and actor Jerrod Carmichael will host the event which has the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas and Tracy Morgan named as ceremony presenters.
