Godzilla vs. Kong 2 release date set for March 2024. Dune: The Second Part Delayed by a Month

Godzilla vs Kong 2 release date is here. Thursday, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have announced that the 2021 monster movie sequel Godzilla vs. Kong will debut March 15, 2024 in theaters worldwide. The two Hollywood studios have also revealed that the sequel to the epic 2021 sci-fi film Dunes, originally slated to debut in theaters on October 20, 2023, will now open in theaters on November 17, 2023, nearly a month later. There’s no word, however, on why Dune: Part Two’s release date was delayed.

For now, that means Dune: Part Two will be released on the same day as The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a prequel to The Hunger Games trilogy. The second Dunes film, like the first part, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgaard and Josh Brolin reprise their roles from the 2021 film. They will be joined by Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken and No Time to Die actress Léa Seydoux among others.

Godzilla vs. Kong 2, meanwhile, will be directed by Adam Wingard, who also worked in the same capacity for the first part. Dan Stevens, who previously collaborated with the director on the 2014 thriller The guest, joined the cast of Godzilla vs. Kong 2 in an undisclosed role. It’s unclear if anyone from the cast of Godzilla vs. Kong will be returning for the sequel.

Although virtually nothing is known about the story of Godzilla vs. Kong 2, Wingard once said, “The clear starting point that we took (in Godzilla vs. Kong), exploring Hollow Earth, I think there is much more to do there. This is a prehistory of planet Earth, where all the titans come from. We create a bit of mystery in this film, things that I want to see resolved, explored and taken to the next level.

Dune: Part Two is now set to release on November 17, 2023 in cinemas. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 will open March 15, 2024 in theaters worldwide.
