Gabriel Martinelli sends message to Ian Wright after brilliant goal vs Newcastle
Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has taken to social media on Saturday evening, to send a message of thanks to club legend Ian Wright.
Saka amongst the goals
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners were of course back in action earlier today.
After seeing their stellar unbeaten run brought to a definitive end at the hands of Liverpool last weekend, Arsenal welcomed Premier League basement dwellers Newcastle United to the Emirates, eyeing an immediate return to winning ways.
And, when all was said and done in the capital, this is precisely what the hosts managed.
A dominant display ultimately culminated in Arteta and co. emerging on the right side of a 2-0 scoreline, owing to strikes from Bukayo Saka and the aforementioned Martinelli.
The latter’s effort, which arrived with just his 2nd touch after being introduced as a 2nd-half substitute, proved particularly spectacular, with the Brazilian having lofted a wonderful volleyed finish beyond the advancing Martin Dubravka from Takehiro Tomiyasu’s assist:

‘Thank you’
And one individual who could not help but announce his delight with Martinelli’s first goal of the season was Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
In a post on his official Twitter account, the one-time hitman sent out a simple one-word message in response to Martinelli’s stunner, as showcased below:
Gabi ❤️❤️❤️❤️

And the Gunners talent, for his part, has since been keen to make clear his appreciation for Wright’s gesture.
In a direct response to the 58-year-old, Martinelli labelled Wright a ‘legend’, by means of the following message:
‘Thank you for all the support legend’
