Future no.1? Boost for Arsenal as Karl Hein, fresh off starring display vs Gareth Bale & co, pens new contract

Premier League outfit Arsenal have been handed a boost on Friday afternoon, in the form of news that Karl Hein has opted to commit his future to the club.

Who is Hein?

Hein, 19, has been on the books in North London for two years now.

A talented up-and-coming goalkeeper, Hein linked up with the Gunners from Nomme United in the summer of 2019, and has since not looked back.

Despite his tender years, the starlet is already a regular between the posts for Arsenal’s U23 side, having managed nine Premier League 2 appearances across the 2020/21 campaign.

In truth, though, it was Hein’s most recent display on the international stage which saw the Gunners’ fanbase truly begin to take stock of what a gifted young shot-stopper the club have on their hands.

In his 10th appearance for Estonia during the recent international break, the teen made the trip to Cardiff, for a daunting World Cup qualifying showdown with the heavily favoured Wales.

When all was said and done, though, the visitors stood tall versus Gareth and Bale and co., to earn a credible share of the spoils, in a 0-0 draw.

And Hein proved the star of the show, making a number of crucial saves, particularly over the course of the 2nd-half, to pique attentions back in the English capital.

Staying put

In turn, it would no doubt have come as a concern for supporters of the North Londoners to learn that Hein, for some time now, had been stalling on committing to fresh terms at the Emirates.

But, as outlined above, on Friday, a resolution has been found.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms, Arsenal confirmed that their highly-touted young goalkeeper has indeed put pen to paper on a new contract, simply described as ‘long-term’:
