FPL managers take note: Rafa Benitez provides timescale for Calvert-Lewin return

Calvert Lewin suffers injury

Everton have enjoyed a strong start to the Premier League season, unbeaten in their first four games under new boss Rafa Benitez, and having only dropped points once, in a 2-2 draw with Leeds United.

Such form means that they currently occupy fourth place in the early Premier League table, and they will be looking to carry on their winning ways for the remainder of the season.

However, they were dealt a blow over the international break as Dominic Calvert-Lewin reported an injury which led to him pulling out of England’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers, and the forward has not been seen in Everton blue since.

Benitez provides return timescale

Speaking ahead of Everton’s trip to Aston Villa at the weekend, Rafa Benitez has revealed an update on the potential return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Englishman is a key man for Everton, having scored three goals so far this season, but, as mentioned above, has not played since the international break.

When quizzed on the forward, Benitez confirmed that DCL would not play a part in this weekend’s games, and is likely to miss several more too, saying:

“Still, we have to wait some weeks. We don’t know exactly how many, but he will not be available for 2-3 weeks.”

This will come as a blow to owners of Calvert-Lewin and Everton fans alike, who will be desperate to see their star man back on the pitch and firing in the goals.
