FPL fans take note: The Tuchel comments that suggest Ben Chilwell could be benched for Chelsea vs Burnley
Chelsea vs Burnley
Chelsea’s final clash before the November international break will see them play host to Burnley this coming Saturday.
The Blues head into week 11 of the 2021/22 Premier League season in fine form.
Their previous league outing would see them smash Newcastle 3-0. And, after Liverpool and Manchester City both dropped points in week 10, Chelsea have now moved three points clear atop of the Premier League.
So, though Burnley finally picked up their first league win of the season last weekend vs Brentford, there is an expectation that Chelsea will be able to pick up a comfortable victory this time around.
Why Chilwell could be dropped vs Burnley
Chelsea currently have the best defence in the Premier League, conceding just three goals in 10 outings.
So, this is making their defenders very popular on Fantasy Premier League.
One defender who has been especially popular in recent weeks is Ben Chilwell who, as well as earning clean sheet points, has scored three in his last four league outings.
As a result, many FPL fans are likely looking to select Chilwell this week for what should be an easy clean sheet and a potential goal return.
However, those players should be aware of Tuchel’s previous Chilwell comments from when they last played Burnley back in January.
After that game, which Chilwell was benched for, Tuchel stated that Chilwell was dropped because they wanted more size to defend set-pieces:
“We had the reason, it was not because we were unhappy with Chilwell but we opted for more size to defend set-pieces.
“Marcos is used to playing in this role, he has good timing arriving in the box. In the end we are very happy that he scored the second goal that finished the game.”
Could Tuchel make a similar call this time around as well?
