Fantasy Premier League

At 101, we are aiming to bring you extensive, detailed analysis of Fantasy Premier League over the course of the 2021/22 campaign, including best captain choice, injury news, players to pick and who to sell.

So, make sure to check back to our site on a regular basis for all the best tips and updates.

We have set up our own FPL league, which you can join using the code here: xtp90j

Best captain picks for GW4

A key part of playing Fantasy Premier League is choosing your captain for every game week.

The player you select from your starting eleven as your captain will see his points total doubled from that round of fixtures. And if he is not involved in any way, your vice-captain for the week will instead have his normal points total doubled.

Said boost in points can often make or break your gameweek and see you move up or down the FPL ranks a fair bit.

So, picking the best captain each week is a decision you should give considerable thought to. And at 101, we are here to help, picking out the best three captain choices from each week.

Here are our picks for gameweek 4.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United (12.5m)

When selecting your captain for gameweek four, it is very hard to look past Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese should be set to make his second Manchester United debut over the weekend after returning from international duty early.

The Portuguese did have to isolate when he got to England, but started training on Tuesday, which should give him plenty of time to prepare to face Newcastle on Saturday.

The Magpies have had a very poor start to the season that sees them sitting in 17th with a -4 goal difference after three games.

They also, at the time of writing, have an expected goals against of 7.65 from their opening three PL games of 2021/22. Only Arsenal with 10.00 have a worst xGA currently.

This, along with United being at home, should make it all-but-certain that Ronaldo will get some form of goal contribution this weekend.

Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea (11.5m)

The next option you should consider is Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian has only played two games for Chelsea this season but has already proven that he was the missing piece in the Blues’ attack.

Lukaku has had the 4th-most shots in the box of any player in the PL this term, playing one less game than those above him.

And, with Chelsea facing a Villa side who are struggling to keep clean sheets this term, a Lukaku goal or two does seem very likely.

Villa’s defence is also expected to be weakened due to no.1 shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez anticipated to be still in quarantine after he travelled to red-listed Argentina during the international break.

One minor issue to monitor if you are thinking of selecting Lukaku as your captain is that he confirmed he was having a scan on his thigh this week for a minor issue.

Harry Kane, Tottenham (12.3m)

The final player you may wish to consider captaining this week is Harry Kane.

This comes with Spurs facing a Crystal Palace side who are yet to find their feet under Patrick Viera.

The Eagles are yet to win a game under the Frenchman and have conceded in all four of their previous outings before GW4.

So, whilst Lukaku and Ronaldo are likely better picks at present, Kane could be an option if you are looking for a bit of a differential captain choice this week.
