Pedro set to join Napoli

Former Chelsea forward Pedro is set to leave AS Roma after a year at the club, and seems poised to join the club’s city-rivals Lazio on a free transfer.

As per transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the opportunity to work with former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was too good to turn down for the decorated winger, who has one Premier League trophy, three Champions League trophies and a World Cup to his name.

And it proved to be an all Chelsea affair too, with the move being sanctioned by another former Chelsea man, in the shape of Roma boss Jose Mourinho, who deemed his former player as surplus to requirements.

According to local reports, Pedro will sign a two year deal with Lazio, worth 2.5 million euros per year. It will be the first time that the two clubs have conducted business between one another since 1981, a testament to the strength of the rivalry.

Move provides transfer boost for Spurs

The three ex-Blues may have inadvertently created an opportunity for London rivals Tottenham in the transfer market. The Lilywhites are thought to hold an interest in Lazio winger/forward Joaquin Correa, along with Everton and Inter Milan.

With Fabio Paratici now at the helm, Spurs have looked to the Serie A several times already this window, and could return for the Argentine amid rumours that his price has been slashed.

The arrival of attacking reinforcement in the form of Pedro could have just helped make any potential deal even easier for the London outfit.
