Former Arsenal striker takes aim at Gunners over Aubameyang treatment: ‘That’s Arsenal for you…’

Ex-Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has on Monday spoken out over his frustrations with the club, regarding their recent treatment of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Togolese of course endured his own successful spell in north London between 2006 and 2009, before eventually departing for the riches of Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The Gunners faithful never quite managed to forgive their one-time hitman for his exit, though, culminating in his infamous length-of-the-pitch celebration during a meeting between the clubs in 2009:

And, evidently, some level of ill feeling remains on the part of Adebayor himself, too.

When drawn on the situation of current Arsenal hitman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – of course banished to the stands and stripped of the captain’s armband by Mikel Arteta owing to a disciplinary breach late last year – the Togolese made use of the opportunity to take aim at those in a position of power at the Emirates:

“I know he’s going through a lot, because that’s Arsenal for you”, Adebayor began.

“They never knew how to forgive, so I know he went through a lot. He’s a fantastic player, I wish him all the best – I’ve sent him a message already.

“We just want him to bounce back. Whether we like it or not, he’s an African brother and we want him to keep representing Africa the way he was doing before.”

PSG & Barcelona keen

Turning attentions towards Aubameyang’s Gunners future, a fresh update on the former Borussia Dortmund man’s situation was forthcoming earlier today.

It is understood that Mikel Arteta and co. are keen on the idea of moving their one-time captain on before the January transfer window slams shut.

And ‘Auba’ should not be short on options, with The Telegraph having confirmed on Monday that all of AC Milan, Sevilla, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille and Barcelona are keeping a close eye on his situation.

All, however, appear keen on the idea of a loan, rather than a permanent swoop.
