Footage reveals Jack Grealish’s efforts to prevent Serge Aurier from being sent off vs England

Footage showcasing the selfless efforts of England and Manchester City star Jack Grealish during the former’s meeting with Cote d’Ivoire earlier this week has begun to turn heads across social media on Friday.

The clip in question highlights ongoings late in the first-half at Wembley Stadium.

This came as, bizarrely, despite the clash having come in the form of a friendly, Ivory Coast defender Serge Aurier was sent for an early bath, owing to two yellow cards picked up inside 40 minutes.

The former Tottenham star, in turn, was quick to plead his case, urging referee Erik Lambrechts to reconsider his decision.

Aurier, though, was not the only one keen to see Lambrechts take into consideration the friendly nature of the fixture, with the aforementioned Grealish, of course lining out on the opposing side, having too been quick to make his feelings known.

As showcased in the footage below, the Manchester City attacker could be seen mouthing ‘ref, it’s a friendly’, evidently of the opinion that Aurier’s dismissal would dispel any remaining competitiveness from the clash:

Watkins amongst the goals

In the end, such concerns, of course, proved well founded on Grealish’s part.

This came as England went on to add a further two goals to Ollie Watkins’ effort which had already put Gareth Southgate’s men 1-0 up prior to Aurier being sent off.

Raheem Sterling was next on target on the stroke of the interval, before Tyrone Mings added some gloss to the scoreline late on, with a Three Lions third:
