A fire outbreak has claimed the lives of two sisters in Rafa village, Jigawa state.
The two girls of the same parents, identified as Aishatu Abdu 8, and 7-year-old Maryam were said to be at home when the fire incident reportedly occurred on Saturday at about 12: 00am.
Spokesman of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC ASC Adamu Shehu, who confirmed the incident said the victims were burnt beyond recognition.
Shehu said that operatives from the NSCDC command were mobilised to the scene immediately it received the report of the fire incident.
The NSCDC spokesman explained that several properties including food items, livestock were destroyed before the fire was put out.
According to him, it took the combined efforts of security personnel and community members to put out the fire.
The cause of the fire incident is yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
