Odegaard arrives

It has of course proven an altogether busy day on the red half of North London to date.

This comes as those in a position of power at the Emirates go about building the kind of squad which should push the club back into European contention in the Premier League.

Earlier today, Arsenal announced the long-awaited capture of Martin Odegaard, with the Norwegian having returned from Real Madrid, this time on a permanent basis.

This marked the club’s 4th addition of the summer, following all of Nuno Tavares, Ben White and Sambi Lokonga through the revolving door at the Emirates.

Leno competition secured

As outlined above, though, the business has not stopped there.

Remarkably, this evening, Arsenal have confirmed their 5th summer reinforcement to Mikel Arteta’s squad, and 2nd of the day.

The latest player to have put pen to paper on terms with the Gunners comes in the form of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

23-year-old Ramsdale had long been linked with a capital switch, on the back of Sheffield United’s relegation to the Championship, and subsequent rocky start to the new campaign.

In turn, Arsenal have swooped decisively, to add some youth to the club’s ranks between the posts:

A further insight into the terms of Ramsdale’s signing, meanwhile, has since also been forthcoming.

The info comes courtesy of the reliable Chris Wheatley of football.london, who has confirmed that their new shot-stopper has set the board in North London back an initial fee of £24 million.

A further £6 million in add-ons could also yet be forked over to Sheffield United, depending on if he manages to usurp Bernd Leno as Mikel Arteta’s no.1 over the season ahead.

Ramsdale will wear Arsenal’s no.32 jersey:
