Fast X Trailer: Jason Momoa Wages Explosive Revenge Against The Toretto Family

Fast X has just received a new trailer in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Universal Pictures has unveiled the second trailer for the 10th main installment in the Fast & Furious series, promising a revenge arc bolstered by loud explosions and a major threat to the Toretto family. Jason Momoa’s new character, Dante Reyes, gets a lot more screen time here, describing his fate and some extended plot beats for the two-part finale. Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) takes over directing Fast X, after original director Justin Lin left the project due to creative differences. Fast X hits theaters on May 19.

The Fast X trailer opens right in the middle of the action, with the crew/family of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) escorting an armored truck through the streets of Rome. It is soon revealed that the mission was a trap, trapping Tej Parker (Ludacris) and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) inside the vehicle with a giant spherical bomb. We then cut to Dante (Momoa), who plans to blow up the Vatican. “Hey jerks, what are we blowing up?” he asks his team carelessly, before dropping the explosive on the civilians. “The Vatican? Wow! I bet you’re going to hell. Given that the previous chapter F9 took us to space, it would be natural for moviegoers to anticipate how the franchise will top that. The answer seems to be explosions at large scale.

“The great Dom Toretto,” Dante says mockingly in the Fast X trailer. “If you had never gotten behind the wheel, I would never be the man I am today. And now I’m the man who’s gonna break your family apart, piece by piece. Dante is the son of infamous drug kingpin Hernan Reyes, whom Dom and his team took down in Fast Five in 2011. Little did they know a young Dante witnessed the whole affair and spent all 12 years planning revenge, hoping to make “Dom pay the ultimate price”. The Fast X trailer then features a confrontation between the two leads, as they discuss a way to end the affair. Elsewhere, Han Lue (Sung Kang) is seen on Deckard Shaw’s (Jason Statham) doorstep, presumably looking for more help; of course, the hilarious Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) doesn’t trust him.
The Fast X trailer then blends into a series of action sequences, starting with Shaw and Lue defeating a group of vigilantes, then new character Tess (Brie Larson) fighting in a bar. As with all other Fast & Furious films, weapons and cars are a basic necessity, in addition to some explosive “gun cars”, as Jakob Toretto (John Cena) likes to call it. He now works with the good guys, after his villainous debut in F9. The trailer ends with two oil trucks colliding, as an expert Dom narrowly escapes and rolls along the vertical plane of a dam.
Advance ticket bookings for Fast X began in February via BookMyShow – a full three months before its theatrical premiere, which is a big achievement for Hollywood films in India. The film also sees returning stars such as Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Dom’s wife, Jordana Brewster as Dom’s sister, Mia Toretto, Charlize Theron as cyberterrorist Cipher and Rita Moreno as the role of the Toretto’s grandmother.
Fast X hits theaters worldwide on May 19.
