Everton to “listen to offers for Delph”
Fabian Delph last started a game for Everton in November 2020, and was limited to just 10 appearances in all competitions last season as he battled injury and strong midfield competition. However, he appears dispensible this summer, with his high wages something that Everton would be keen to remove this summer.
In addition, the 31 year old has just one year left on his current deal, meaning that this transfer window represents the Toffees’ last chance to return any of the investment they made on Delph. It seems that they are keen to do just that, with The Athletic reporting that:
“barring a major turnaround in his fitness and fortunes — enough to convince Benitez that Delph can play a major part in his first season as manager — it remains probable the club would listen to offers for him this summer.”
The biggest issue for Rafa Benitez and co. will be finding a club willing to take on his salary.
James Rodriguez not in Benitez’s plans
As reported by 101 yesterday, Colombia star James Rodriguez is not thought to be in Rafa Benitez’s plans for the upcoming season. Rodriguez followed his mentor Carlo Ancelotti to Goodison Park last summer, and made an instant impression at the club.

However, his contributions, through lack of fitness and injury, tailed off after the first few weeks of the season. As a result, he saw his value to the Everton side plummet. Now, with a new manager at the helm, it appears as though his time on Merseyside may be ending, with Benitez keen to put his own stamp on the Toffees side.
Rodriguez has previously been linked with a move away already this window, but it does seem that this will be the likely outcome should Everton be able to find a buyer.
Toffees tracking Jorge Sanchez
The news that Everton are tracking Mexican Olympic star Jorge Sanchez will come as bittersweet to the Goodison faithful. The 23-year-old has impressed in Tokyo, helping his side reach the semi-final of the competition, where they will face off against Brazil. At 23, he remains young too, which will certainly see him continue to improve.

However, a move for Sanchez, plus the contract extension given to Seamus Coleman earlier this summer, seemingly pours cold water over any attempt to finalise a deal for Euro2020 star Denzel Dumfries, who was thought to be joining the club from PSV.
Everton fans, who would you rather see start the season at right back?
