It will be new manager Frank Lampard’s first game since taking over from Rafa Benitez in the dying embers of the January transfer window, and will be a chance for a restart for the Toffees, who until now have endured a dismal season.

And, despite a double deadline day swoop for the toffees, where they added Dele Alli and Donny Van De Beek to their ranks, they will have to wait to see the pair in action, with both players cup-tied following appearances with their former clubs in the 3rd round of the competition.

This means that both players are likely to make their debuts in Lampard’s sides trip to St James’ Park on Tuesday evening, where a win would go a long way to lifting Everton out of immediate danger. A loss, however, could reduce the gap to Eddie Howe’s men to just a single point.

Calvert Lewin to sit out FA Cup tie

Now, as per Everton insider El Bobble on Twitter, Dominic Calvert-Lewin may be forced to sit out the FA Cup clash with Brentford. The forward suffered a ‘minor knee injury’ whilst doing some personal training on his way back from his latest setback in an injury ridden season thus far.

And, with rumours that Arsenal are circling in the summer, he may not have too many games left in Everton blue.
