Everton-linked Dwight McNeil speaks out on transfer speculation ahead of Burnley’s clash with Toffees

Everton vs Burnley

This gameweek’s Premier League action draws to a close on Monday evening.

There is just once clash taking place on Monday, which sees Everton play host to Burnley.

Everton have, so far, enjoyed a solid start to life under former Liverpool boss, Rafa Benitez.

The Spaniard has guided the Toffees to seven points from a possible nine in the Premier League in 2021/22, with a draw vs Leeds United sandwiched between victories over Southampton and Brighton.

The Merseysiders would also see off Huddersfield to progress to the 3rd round of the League Cup.

As for Burnley, they are yet to pick up a single league win prior to Monday’s game.

The Clarets lost to Brighton and Liverpool before drawing with Leeds United in week three of the PL campaign.

McNeil on transfer speculation

Ahead of Monday’s game, Dwight McNeil has been speaking about transfer speculation surrounding him.

The winger has been one of Burnley’s most exciting talents for several years now, so it was not surprising to see him linked with a summer move.

The main club credited with an interest in McNeil was actually Burnley’s latest opponent, Everton.

However, when speaking about his transfer links ahead of the Everton game, McNeil stated that he is happy at Burnley and no offer came in for him:

“It’s always nice when other clubs take notice, but the main thing is that everyone here rates me very highly, which is always nice,” said McNeil.

“I’m still a Burnley player, nothing has changed. I’ve got to give my all, everything I have to Burnley.

“I’ve got a long term contract and I’m happy playing football. We said if something came in we’d look at it but nothing did. The main thing is I’m happy here – with the lads and the manager.”
