Everton considering move for Inter Milan’s Alexis Sánchez in shock swap deal

Everton eyeing surprise swap deal for Sánchez

Ambitious Everton are considering an unlikely source for reinforcement during the difficult January transfer window for Inter Milan’s Alexis Sánchez.

In the wake of injury concerns that have hit the Everton forward line due to issues surrounding both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison this season, Toffees boss Rafa Benítez and the club’s hierarchy are said to be considering a raid on Inter for the Chilean star.

According to FourFourTwo citing InterLive, any potential deal for Sánchez would see Everton look to get rid of Turkish center-forward Cenk Tosun after the former Besiktas stalwart has failed to solidify his status at Goodison Park after his arrival in 2018, making just 49-appearances for the club and finding the back of the net on just nine occasions.

The same report said that Inter Milan would field no interest in Tosun, but boss Simone Inzaghi would be interested in binning Sánchez considering his contract runs down at the end of next season.

Chilean looking to return to the glory days

It was not all that long ago that Alexis Sánchez was one of the most feared attacking players in Europe during his time in north London with Arsenal.

After a credible stint at Udinese and an underrated period with Barcelona, Sánchez truly came to life with the Gunners with other former players the likes of Mesut Özil, Olivier Giroud, and Santi Cazorla under legendary club manager Arsène Wenger.

Sánchez ended his Arsenal career on 80-goals and 45-assists in just 166-appearances across all competitions when he was involved in a swap deal to Manchester United with Henrikh Mkhitaryan heading the other way.

Whether or not Alexis Sánchez will ply his trade on English shores again remains to be seen, but it is difficult to imagine that the Chilean icon can rekindle the level of performance he hit in the English capital.
