Everton close in on Colombian international

Everton has gained ground in their hunt for a James Rodríguez replacement, with the club now looking likely to secure a deal for FC Porto’s Colombian international Luis Díaz.

As of late last night Rafa Benítez’s chances of landing the attacking talent, who shone this summer for his country at Copa America while ending joint-top scorer with Lionel Messi, have been given a major boost according to Fabrizio Romano as Everton are now seen as his ideal destination, outpacing Tottenham for his services.

In the process, James Rodríguez would make a return to Porto in a loan move in the other direction, killing two birds with one stone. It would signal a big boost to the Toffees who are in need of a focal point in the attack just behind strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, and with Díaz offering both goals and assists as part of his game, it could be viewed as someone of a coup for the Goodison Park outfit.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles on Toffees radar in potential loan move

Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles has emerged as a potential target for Everton in a late move for the Hale End academy product, according to SkySports.

The versatile youngster is hardly on course for considerable minutes at the Emirates this season, and the Toffees have earmarked him for a loan move that would give them added depth at right-back.

At current, Everton’s options in that position are hardly brilliant, with just aging captain Seamus Coleman and returning Celtic loanee Jonjoe Kenny offering Rafa Benítez tons of confidence. Despite his desire to feature in midfield, Maitland-Niles put in quite a few credible performances on the right side of the defense for Arsenal in the past and, combined with his effectiveness in two or three areas of the pitch, would provide a valuable squad option at the very least.

Moise Kean nears a return to Italy with Juventus

Everton is set to be one striker down before the window slams shut with Italian international Moise Kean set for a return back to Turin with a loan move to Juventus all but secured.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal earlier this morning, with Everton potentially set to benefit to the tune of £17million should Juve wish to make the deal permanent.

Kean has hardly enjoyed his time on the blue half of Merseyside, but was effective during his loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain last season, scoring 14-goals across all competitions last term. But there is no room for him at Goodison Park, well behind Everton’s star striker pair, while the Toffees added Damarai Gray and Andros Townsend this summer as well, cutting off any route into the team via the flank.

With the expected deal for Luis Díaz to be completed soon, a move away from the club was best for both parties involved.
