Everton target joins Flamengo

The Toffees have been dealt a blow in their hunt for creative reinforcements in the past 24 hours. One of the players earmarked for the role had been Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira, who was thought to be free to leave Old Trafford this summer.

However, it appears as though Pereira has opted to return to his native Brazil, and is set to join Flamengo on a season-long loan in the coming hours. This will force Rafa Benitez to look elsewhere as he aims to strengthen ahead of the transfer deadline.

Price named for Longstaff

Meanwhile, Newcastle have set their valuation on supposed Everton target Sean Longstaff. As per the Daily Mail, the Magpies are looking for a fee of around 10 million pounds to part with their out of favour player this summer.

WIth just 12 months left to run on his Tyneside deal, however, it would likely be possible to negotiate this fee to something much more reasonable, with Steve Bruce desperate for cash to rejuvenate his side.

Toffees eye up Umtiti

Finally, Everton have allegedly lodged an offer for Barcelona outcast Samuel Umitit, as per the Mirror.  The Frenchman is a player that the Catalan club are looking to offload as they desperately look for ways to trim their wage bill, with a move to Benfica having broken down earlier in the summer.

No fee is mentioned in the report, but it would almost certainly be minimal given Barcelona’s desperation. What would be more concerning, however, are the World Cup winners wages, thought to be over 200,000 pounds per week.

Could Everton afford to spend so much on a player so often injured?
