Emiliano Martinez makes big claim about Lionel Messi’s Copa America performance
Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has recently spoken out about Lionel Messi’s 2021 Copa America performance.
Argentina win Copa America
The 2021 Copa America would, of course, play out earlier this year.
The event was hosted in Brazil, with the hosts one of the main favourites to lift the trophy again.
And, whilst Brazil did make it to the 2021 final, they would eventually lose out to Argentina by one goal to nil.
Argentine were helped out massively en route to the final by some starring displays from Lionel Messi.
The 34-year-old finished the tournament with both the most goals and most assists of any player:

Martinez on Lionel Messi
This past summer’s win would be the first time Argentina have won the tournament since back in 1993.
Now, reflecting on the Copa America, Argentine and Aston Villa’s no.1, Emiliano Martinez, has been full of praise for Messi.
When speaking about Messi’s 2021 Copa America showing, Martinez would claim that Messi helped them win the cup and that he had never seen someone play so well in his life.
“Messi was incredible. He helped us to win that cup. I’ve never seen someone play so well in my life.
“It was tough, the pitch was dry, it was hot, we were tired in the semi-final and final, but we managed to do it and in Brazil.”
🗣 “I’ve never seen someone play so well in my life.”
