Eddie Howe speaks out on Michael Edwards to Newcastle United rumours

Eddie Howe announced Newcastle boss

Earlier this week, former Bournemouth and Burnley boss Eddie Howe was announced as the new manager of Newcastle United, 2 weeks after the new owners parted ways with Steve Bruce.

They had previously chased Villareal boss Unai Emery, but the former Arsenal boss revealed that he had decided to remain with the Spanish outfit last week, leaving Eddie Howe as the main contender.

And, with an international break now once again upon us, Howe has plenty of time to work with his new players, even though speculation will undoubtedly swirl about who they are looking to sign in January.

Howe speaks out on Michael Edwards

Off the field, a technical director is certainly a position Newcastle could do with filling, and they have been linked with Liverpool man Michael Edwards. who earlier today announced he would be leaving Klopp’s side in the summer.

However, Howe was quick to play down those links when asked about it, saying:

“As far as I know, absolutely not – I know nothing about Michael Edwards’ future.

“He’s someone I hugely respect in the game and what he’s done for Liverpool, but my main focus since coming to Newcastle has been on the players who are currently in the team, not focused on January or other outside influences.”

Of course, Newcastle will be looking to strengthen in the coming years, but it does not seem like it will be with Michael Edwards at the helm.
