Dune: Part 2 production to start later in July: report

Dune: Part Two is set to begin production later this month, according to a new report. A two-day pre-shoot is set to begin today at Altivolve Italy at Brion’s tomb designed by Carlo Scarpa, which is located in the Veneto region and fits perfectly into the Dune universe. Full-fledged production on Dune: Part Two with the cast would begin on July 21 in Hungary, where the first part was also filmed. There is no word, however, on who all will be part of this schedule and nothing is known when it will end.

Deadline announces the start of filming for Dune: Part Two this month. The report, however, does not contain any details of the scenes / footage or the actors involved.

Dune Movie Review: Epic, Brave, But Powerfully Flawed

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, who worked in the same capacity on the 2021 film, the second Dunes the film is billed as “bigger and better” than the first part. Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin reprise their respective roles as Dunes. Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux, among others, are the new additions to the cast of Dune: Part Two.

The Dunes The sequel was originally slated to hit screens in October 2023, but Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures recently delayed the release date of Dune: Part Two by almost a month to November 17, 2023. The revised date means that for now, it will debut in cinemas on the same day as The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a prequel to The Hunger Games tetralogy.

When it opens in theaters in 2021, Dunes emerged as a commercial success, grossing nearly $401 million (about Rs. 3,168 crore) worldwide on a budget of $165 million (about Rs. 1,303 crore). The sci-fi epic received largely positive reviews, though we took a much darker view of it.

Dune: Part Two begins filming on July 21 in Hungary. The Dunes the sequel is set to release on November 17, 2023 worldwide.
