Dressing room cliques & players struggling to adjust: The key issues facing Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick’s Manchester United stint

Ralf Rangnick has now taken charge of four games as Manchester United boss. A total which would have been higher if not for the Covid-19 outbreak at United recently.

Regardless, Rangnick has now had a decent amount of time to get to know his players and their attitudes.

The Red Devils began life under Rangnick with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, a game Man United dominated and showed signs of already learning an effective pressing game under the German in.

This was followed by a weakened United side drawing 1-1 with Young Boys, a result which was enough to see the Manchester outfit top their Champions League group.

Most recently, Manchester United have faced off with Norwich and Newcastle United.

Manchester United’s problems

The pair were, and still are, the bottom two teams in the Premier League table this season.

Norwich are the lowest scorers in the division whilst Newcastle boasted the worst defence in the PL when they took on United, a feat which has since been matched by Norwich after they lost 3-0 vs Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

Yet, Manchester United barley beat a weak Norwich side 1-0 and, earlier this week, only scrapped a 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

It continues Manchester United’s unbeaten run yes, but also suggests that Rangnick is yet to get this side firing on all cylinders.

Following the Newcastle game, Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United stars in general came in for criticism regarding their attitudes.

Now, the Daily Mail have provided some insight into the issues Ralf Rangnick is currently facing at the club.

The DM report that the mood at United’s training ground is said to be very low and concerns over dressing room cliques have not been helped by an upgrade to the canteen that has had six four-seater booths installed.

Elsewhere, players are said to be struggling to adjust to Rangnick’s later training sessions and left in the dark at 5pm on Tuesday.

Anthony Martial is also eyeing an exit, whilst Dean Henderson is growing frustrated with his lack of playing time.
