Sancho makes Man United switch

The news all Manchester United fans were waiting for was finally forthcoming on Friday, July 23rd, with Jadon Sancho officially confirmed as a Manchester United star:

Sancho is reported to have set The Red Devils back £73m.

Jadon Sancho’s Man United struggles

On paper, said fee did not seem too bad, given that Man United were crying out for a natural right-winger and due to Sancho’s impressive stint in Germany with Dortmund.

However, so far, we have seen very little from Jadon Sancho in a Manchester United shirt.

The 21-year-old has featured in seven games across all competitions for Man United this term, but he has, so far at least, looked pretty devoid of confidence and appears to be struggling to adapt to United’s side.

A key reason Sancho wanted Man United move

This is a stark contrast to the player who would score 16 and assist 20 in just 38 outings for Borussia Dortmund during the 2020/21 season before netting 20 and assisting 20 in 44 games the campaign prior.

However, Jadon Sancho is still only young and he still has plenty of time to come good at Man United.

And now, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has provided an insight as to why Sancho wanted to move to Man United, with it claimed that one of the big reasons Jadon Sancho wanted to move to Man United was because of a ‘lack of acceptance in the English national team’ of his achievements in the Bundesliga.

And, in fairness, it is quite hard to argue with Sancho on this point. He has struggled to earn regular minutes for the Three Lions despite being one of the most in-form youngsters over the last several years.

It is a similar story elsewhere as well, with Fikayo Tomori, currently impressing in Italy with AC Milan, not even getting called up whilst both Conor Coady and Tyrone Mings are regularly included in Gareth Southgate’s squad.
