Diego Carlos speaks out on Newcastle transfer links, and it’s bad news for the Magpies
Newcastle chase Diego Carlos
There have been plenty of conflicting reports about Newcastle’s pursuit of Sevilla centre back Diego Carlos in recent weeks.
Those in the English media appear to believe that a deal is edging closer, with multiple bids reported of over 30 million pounds.

However, other sources suggest that Sevilla have rejected those bids, and that while talks are ongoing, the amount Newcastle are currently offering is not enough.

And as Chelsea found out with Jules Kounde in the summer, Sevilla aren’t likely to budge.
But now, has the final nail in the coffin been hammered home by Carlos himself?
Carlos speaks out
Speaking to the Spanish media yesterday, Carlos was quizzed on the links to Newcastle, and gave what seemed to be a definitive answer, to suggest that he was staying in Seville.
As per local news outlet Diario de Sevilla, the Brazilian claimed ‘I have a lot of time left here [in Seville]’ when asked about the transfer away from Southern Spain.
With Sevilla currently in second place in La Liga, and four points off top side Real Madrid, any move to relegation-threatened Newcastle would be surprising to say the least were it to occur, even if the money was significant.
Now, the chase for his signature seems to have ended.
