Didier Drogba pokes fun at Arsenal’s struggles with former Chelsea stars in message to Willian

Willian leaves Arsenal

Willian would sign for Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea during the 2020 delayed summer transfer window.

The Brazilian signed on a free and, at the time, it seemed like a move for the Premier League veteran would be a decent bit of business for the Gunners.

However, Willian had a pretty torrid 2020/21 campaign. Things appeared to start well when he earned two assists in his opening match for Arsenal vs Fulham.

But from there, the 33-year-old would provide just three assists and one goal for the remainder of the Premier League season.

Now, despite having two years left to run on his contract at the Emirates, Willian would decide to walk away from his Arsenal deal to join Brazilian outfit, Corinthians.

As per Sky, Willian walked away from £20.5m, saving Arsenal a decent chunk of change in the process:

Drogba trolls Arsenal

On the back of Arsenal agreeing to leave Willian leave, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has trolled the Gunners in a message to the winger.

As already mentioned, Willian had a pretty poor stint at Arsenal. And he would not be the first Chelsea player to cross the London divide to go on and struggle in red and white.

David Luiz and Petr Cech would also do so in recent years, with neither player really having a great stint in north London.

Cech, a Premier League legend from his stint at Chelsea, struggled a fair bit when asked to play out from the back under Unai Emery.

David Luiz, meanwhile, was as unreliable as he had ever been in his career when playing for Arsenal.

And now, Drogba has appeared to poke fun at Arsenal’s struggles with ex-Chelsea players by Tweeting ‘thank you agent Willian, your mission is over, like @DavidLuiz_4 @PetrCech:

Five managers Arsenal could realistically sound out to replace Mikel Arteta
