Diablo Immortal, The Quarry, and Sonic Origins are all set to release in June 2022, along with a host of other titles arriving during the month. Summer vacation is nearly over, but if you’re looking for a new title to settle into once the monsoon season rolls around, there’s plenty to choose from in a variety of genres. Football fans can pick up Mario Strikers: Battle League next week, a five-on-five game with some “game-changing” tweaks. Fans of hack-and-slash action role-playing games (RPGs) can look forward to Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes on the Nintendo Switch.

Do you prefer third-person shooter RPG titles? Outriders: Worldslayer is coming to PC and consoles with three different scenarios to choose from, plus a mysterious new endgame experience. Gamers who have enjoyed Sonic titles over the years can now play them in high definition, with unlimited lifetimes in Anniversary Mode with Sonic Origins. For those who enjoy interactive horror games, The Quarry will let you decide the fate of nine teenage summer camp counselors with your decisions – with an online co-op mode.

Diablo Immortal

When: June 2
Where: PC, iOS, Android

Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase have developed Diablo Immortal is a free-to-play game with connections to the Diablo series – best known in the PC and game console storyline.

On the other hand, Diablo Immortal will mainly launch on smartphones, as well as a beta version on PC. Immortal is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMO) set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III.

The six-character classes from the Diablo series are also making their way to Immortal. When creating a character, players can choose between Barbarian, Sorcerer, Monk, Necromancer, Demon Hunter, and Crusader. The game also offers a cross-save feature.

Mario Strikers: Battle League

Where: Nintendo Switch

Published by Nintendo, Mario Strikers: Battle League is the third game in the Mario Strikers series. Mario Strikers: Battle League is a 5v5 soccer video game with minor changes to the official rules.

In Battle League, players can attack opponents aggressively and also use specific items to gain an advantage over others. Objects such as banana peels can be placed on the field for opponents to slide over, giving you a clear chance of reaching the goal.

Mario Strikers: Battle League follows the street football format with a no-out-of-bounds rule. The entire stadium fence is powered by electricity, so players can ram opponents into the fence and knock them over.

On the last day of summer camp at Hackett’s Quarry, nine teenage counselors decide to throw a party. This party quickly turns for the worse and they have to spend the night. How many councilors survive is ultimately up to you in this interactive horror game.

The career offers branching scenarios from each choice you make. Ultimately, all or none of the campers would survive depending on the patch. There’s an online multiplayer mode where seven other players can watch your play and vote on key decisions. It also comes with a couch co-op mode.

If you don’t feel like playing, you can even enjoy this cinematic experience like a movie. Developer Supermassive Games, which is renowned for Until Dawn games, used state-of-the-art facial capture and film lighting techniques to make The Quarry immersive. The cast includes popular Hollywood stars such as David Arquette, Ariel Winter, Brenda Song, etc.

Sound origins

Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch

Enjoy classic Sonic titles in high definition with Sega’s Sonic Origins collection which includes Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992), Sonic 3 & Knuckles (1993) and Sonic CD (1994).

All of these games can be played in Anniversary Mode, which introduces a revamped full-screen resolution and unlimited lifespans. There’s also a Classic mode, which reverts to the original resolution with giving you a limited number of lives.

Sega has added new opening and ending animations to tie all the games together, allowing you to play all four as one story. Earn coins to unlock new in-game content and challenges. You can also play Special Stages through the in-game museum.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

When: June 24
Where: Nintendo Switch

Announced on Nintendo Direct in February this year, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is the second Warriors game in the Fire Emblem franchise, following the 2017 release of Fire Emblem Warriors on the New Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch. This upcoming hack-and-slash action RPG will feature similar gameplay to the Dynasty Warriors series.

Set on the continent of Fódlan, players will be presented with three scenarios, one for each house boss – Scarlet Blaze, Azure Gleam, and Golden Wildfire. In addition to a new character, Shez, players can also play as characters from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, including Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude.

Outriders: world killer

When: June 30
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Stadia

A third-person shooter action role-playing game with online-only cooperative gameplay, Outriders: Worldslayer is an expansion to the original Square Enix title Outriders which was released on multiple platforms last year.

Players will discover a new villain – Ereshkigal, the leader of the human insurgents. As Worldslayer takes place after the events of Outriders, you’ll need to complete the original storyline first.

The upcoming expansion will add new locations and enemies to explore and fight, while adding a new Ascension progression system to make your hero more powerful than before. Outriders: Wordslayer will also feature a mysterious endgame experience called The Trial of Tarya Gratar – we hope to hear more about that closer to release date.
