Details: Barcelona tipped to hijack Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe swoop
Word stemming from the Spanish media on Thursday suggests that Barcelona are ready to rival front-runners Real Madrid in the race for Kylian Mbappe’s signature.
PSG stand firm
The headline news surrounding ongoings at the Bernabeu this past summer of course came in the form of Real’s pursuit of Mbappe.
Despite the French international having had just a year to run on his contract with PSG, it is understood that Los Blancos tabled a mammoth offer worth €170 million, plus a further 10 million in bonuses, for his signature.

Remarkably, however, the board at the Parc des Princes opted to knock this proposal back.
In turn, word was forthcoming late in August that Florentino Perez and co. had come to the decision to pull the plug on their summer swoop for Mbappe, to instead focus their attentions on finding a pre-contract agreement with the 22-year-old in January.
Camp Nou bound?
And so, the weeks since have seen speculation continue to swirl in the media, with the widespread assumption remaining that, in the end, Mbappe will make his Madrid-shaped dreams come true.
As outlined above, though, if the latest updates stemming from Spain are anything to by, then Los Merengues may yet be forced to vie it out with none other than their biggest rivals, if they genuinely intend to push a deal over the line.
This comes amid claims that Barcelona have joined the hunt for the PSG standout’s signature.
As per a report from Diario AS, despite their financial difficulties, the board at the Camp Nou are eyeing up one superstar signing ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Mbappe would of course fit firmly into this bracket, with it even suggested that, based on signing-on fee and everything that goes along with it, Barca could offer the Frenchman a total of 90 million euro to take his talents to Catalunya.
They would, according to AS, also be willing to outmatch Real in the wage department.
Israeli super agent Pini Zahavi – the man who oversaw Neymar’s world-record departure from the club back in 2017 – would be enlisted to oversee the operation.
