Dean Smith on possibility of Martinez & Buendia featuring for Aston Villa vs Everton
Aston Villa vs Everton
Aston Villa are set to face off with Everton in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.
The Villains have endured a fairly mixed start to the 2021/22 Premier League season to date.
Dean Smith’s side would lose 3-2 vs Watford on the opening weekend before then picking up a PL win over Newcastle and a League Cup win over Barrow.
However, Aston Villa have since been held to a 1-1 draw by newly-promoted Brentford and then smashed 3-0 by Chelsea this past weekend.
Everton, on the other hand, are yet to lose a league game under Rafa Benitez, drawing one and winning three of their first four this term.
But the Toffees will be without the services of key man Dominic Calvert-Lewin this weekend:
Rafa on Calvert-Lewin: “No, it is what I said after the game [on Monday]. Still, we have to wait some weeks. We don’t know exactly how many, but he will not be available for 2-3 weeks.”

Dean Smith on Martinez & Buendia featuring vs Everton
Ahead of Saturday’s game, Dean Smith would speak to the media on Friday.
When conducting his pre-match press conference, Smith would speak on Emiliano Martinez and Emi Buendia, who missed out vs Chelsea after going to red-listed Argentina during the international break.
However, Smith confirmed that the pair will be back with them on Saturday and he will then assess and decide whether they will be involved vs Everton or not:
“We are expecting them to join us tomorrow morning and I will assess it then and decide whether they will be involved or not. They are in a good place physically.”
