Cristiano Ronaldo makes history with record-setting goal during Man United’s meeting with Arsenal

Manchester United hitman Cristiano Ronaldo has etched his name ever-further into the history books of world football on Thursday evening.

Goals galore

Ronaldo and co. are of course currently locked in action at Old Trafford.

On the back of a positive week’s work since the dismissal of Ole Gunner Solskjaer, the Red Devils welcomed Arsenal to Manchester, aiming to impress with incoming boss Ralf Rangnick in attendance.

As things stand at the Theatre of Dreams, however, Rangnick has likely been left unable to draw too many conclusions.

This comes with an altogether topsy-turvy affair locked at two goals apiece.

After Emile Smith Rowe’s gorgeous opener inside a quarter of an hour, United soon came roaring back, levelling things up courtesy of Bruno Fernandes, before turning the clash on its head through Cristiano Ronaldo’s typically cool finish:

Arsenal, to their credit, have since levelled things up, after the heavily criticised Martin Odegaard swept home Gabriel Martinelli’s inch-perfect pull-back from the right.

CR7 makes history

As alluded to above, however, amid the chaos at Old Trafford, it is the name of one player in particular which has firmly grabbed the headlines.

The star in question? Cristiano Ronaldo.

This comes with the Portuguese icon, left disappointed with a 6th-placed finish at this week’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, having bounced back in trademark fashion.

As confirmed by a host of sources online, Ronaldo’s strike versus Arsenal marked the 800th of his senior playing career.

This makes the 36-year-old the first player to ever reach such a milestone, in the game’s storied history:
