Ronaldo earns plaudits once again

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to spearhead everything that is positive for Manchester United this season and his efforts have once again been rewarded as the Portuguese great bagged yet another personal accolade this season.

The influential Red Devil brought home the Manchester United player of the month award for October on the back of a handful of heroic moments that have ultimately kept Ole Gunnar Solskjær employed at the moment.

Ronaldo was key in United’s 3-0 win against Tottenham last weekend in a match dubbed “El Sackico” which led to Nuno Espírito Santo’s departure from north London after just ten league matches in charge.

More importantly, Ronaldo bagged a brace in a dramatic late draw against Serie A outfit Atalanta Bergamo on Tuesday evening after the Red Devils were 2-1 down until stoppage time when the Portuguese came to the rescue once again.

Solskjær backs Portuguese ace amidst claims of negative influence

Despite Ronaldo quickly taking root at Manchester United since his second stint began in the summer, claims that the former Juventus and Real Madrid superstar has had a negative effect at the club were squashed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

“His impact on and off the pitch has been absolutely immense, the goals he scores, the way he conducts himself in and around the place, so how people can say it’s a negative, I can’t see it.

Really, really pleased he started off as well as he has but that’s what he does, he scores goals, he works for his team, he’s a top, top professional.”

Regardless of whatever claims have been fielded, the data behind his return does not lie. Ronaldo has bagged five goals in just four Champions League group stage fixtures thus far while scoring in each outing while hitting 4-goals in seven Premier League appearances thus far.

With the Manchester derby just around the corner on Sunday, Cristiano Ronaldo has the chance to push United back into the hunt for Premier League honors while doing it against one of their biggest domestic rivals.
