Cristiano Ronaldo concern surfaces as Man United squad convene for Leicester clash

Panic has begun to spread amongst the Manchester United faithful on Friday evening, amid concerns over the status of Cristiano Ronaldo for the club’s meeting with Leicester City.

The Red Devils, of course, are set to return to action post-international break on Saturday evening, in a Premier League showdown with Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes.

In turn, as is customary ahead of fixtures at Old Trafford, Ralf Rangnick’s squad came together at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester on Friday evening. From here, they will head directly to the club’s ground tomorrow afternoon.

As alluded to above, however, one glaring absence from the panel of stars to have arrived at the Lowry was picked up on by the media presence in attendance.

The individual in question? Cristiano Ronaldo.

As per the Manchester Evening News, Portuguese superstar Ronaldo was not amongst the 21 players to have convened a short time ago.

It currently remains unclear exactly why, but concerns over a potential injury picked up by the veteran attacker whilst on international duty will no doubt continue to spread through Saturday morning, when an update on the situation is likely to be forthcoming.

Turning attentions towards those who were present at the Lowry Hotel, the MEN have confirmed the following arrivals:

De Gea, Henderson, Grant, Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Lindelof, Jones, Shaw, Telles, McTominay, Fred, Matic, Pogba, Fernandes, Mata, Lingard, Sancho, Rashford, Elanga.

Cavani latest

Word of Ronaldo’s potential absence against Leicester, of course, couldn’t come at a much more inopportune moment for Manchester United.

This comes with the club’s other senior centre-forward option, in the form of Edinson Cavani, having returned from international duty with Uruguay this week in possession of an injury of his own.

Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, Ralf Rangnick confirmed that the 35-year-old is set to spend ‘the next couple of weeks’ on the sidelines:
