Crisis deepens at Real Madrid as 4 more players, along with Carlo Ancelotti, test positive for Covid-19

 

The scale of the Covid-19 outbreak at Spanish giants Real Madrid has continued to worsen on Thursday, amid confirmation that no fewer than four more players have tested positive for the virus.

The subject of Covid in football has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines across the week to date.

This comes largely owing to the situation in the Premier League, where a whole host of clubs, including Manchester United, Tottenham and Leicester City have seen their playing squads riddled with positive cases.

The alarming spread of Covid amongst the continent’s top clubs, however, has not been restricted solely to the Premier League.

Recent days have seen concern mount at the aforementioned Real Madrid, after it was confirmed that the La Liga table-toppers had seen a pair of stars return positive tests for the virus:

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, the problems facing the in-form Blancos have ramped up once more.

This comes on the back of confirmation that Luka Modric and Marcelo have been joined in entering mandatory periods of self isolation by all of Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale, Andriy Lunin and Rodrygo.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has too tested positive for Covid, throwing the capital giants’ scheduled La Liga meeting with Cadiz this coming Sunday into immediate doubt.
