COVID-19 in SA: Death toll runs over 14,000

According to a report from the health department, it has recorded 47 COVID-19 related deaths within the past 24 hours.

This report drags the death toll to 14,028.

Moreover, Gauteng still records the highest death rate, with the death of sixteen patients, Mpumalanga followed suit with the death of eleven patients, while in the Eastern and Western Cape, seven deaths were recorded respectively.

Free State and KwaZulu-Natal have the least record of deaths, with just three deaths of patients respectively.

However, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State have the record of the most active cases.

In the past 24 hours, the number of new cases in the country took its toll to 2,505.

The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded so far in South Africa sums up to 625,056.

The recovery rate remains stagnant at 86%.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 tests done so far is 3,674,872 with 21,902 new tests.
