Contract update for Chelsea defensive duo is not good news for Blues fans
Chelsea set to lose 4 defenders this summer
Despite their success over the past 12 months, Chelsea could be set for a major rebuild this summer as they are set to lose four defenders this summer on free transfers as things stand.
Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are all set to be out of contract this summer, and as of yet there have been no suggestions that new deals are imminent for any of the four, who have all impressed under Thomas Tuchel’s watchful eye.
With the Blues fighting on multiple fronts this campaign, all four are expected to have large roles as they look to challenge for the Premier League and retain their Champions League crown.
The latest on Rudiger and Christensen
It appears that Chelsea have reached an impasse with both Christensen and Rudiger, if reports today are to be believed.

As per the report:
“despite the Dane’s intention to remain in west London, the current offer would keep him among the lowest earners in the squad.”
However, both defenders are allegedly keen to remain in west London even though no contract breakthrough has been reached for either the Dane or the German.

Indeed, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano corroborated this, saying:
Chelsea are still in talks to extend his contract, he wants to stay but no agreement yet.
