Conor McGregor And His Chest Tattoo: What is it’s Significance?
UFC megastar and former dual divisional champion Conor McGregor is a name that transcends the boundary of UFC. The highest-paid athlete for 2021 is perhaps the most popular MMA fighter of all time.
From title reigns to how he carries himself during pre-fight events, all of it contributes towards his rising stock in the market, which is rivaled by none.
His body tattoos have also given him a distinct personality. It’s a notable fact that many fighters in UFC possess various tattoos. In most cases, their tattoos carry a meaning.
However, McGregor is not the one who thinks much before inking his body. In an interview, the ‘Notorious’ one had claimed, “You hear people say like they have a goldfish on their a** cheek and it means it’s a symbol of hope. Something like that. I just like the way it looks on my body.”
Yet, he also claims there might be some subliminal reasons too for getting tattoos.“I don’t spend months picking it, I just see it, get it and just enjoy the experience of being inked on my body for the rest of my life. I don’t know what it is.”
Well, keeping all things in mind, let’s have a look at one of many tattoos of McGregor. The one that has really grabbed eyeballs around the world that he bears on his chest; the Gorilla tattoo.
Famous Gorilla tattoo of Conor McGregor
This particular tattoo is the biggest tattoo on his body. It has a gorilla wearing a crown and eating a heart. The gorilla logo is of Straight Blast Gym Ireland. The gym has produced world-class athletes apart from McGregor, such as Makwan Amirkhani and Gunnar Nelson.
In an interview, McGregor had stated that he wanted to give tribute to the gym where it all started for him. “My gym’s logo is a gorilla,” he said.
“It’s not that particular gorilla. But it’s a gorilla. So I wanted to get something along with that line. I feel like I am the king gorilla so I took the crown, and I had him eat a heart. It felt right.”
