Concerning Trevoh Chalobah injury update emerges ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Tottenham
Chelsea vs Tottenham
The 2021/22 League Cup semi-finals are set to get underway this week.
The first clash will see two London rivals face off when Chelsea welcome Tottenham to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Tottenham head into the game no doubt desperate to get one over on the Blues and get one step closer to ending their trophy drought.
Spurs have not won a trophy since all the way back in 2008, which also happened to be the League Cup and saw them beat Chelsea in the final.
As for Chelsea, it is hard to imagine them putting as much stock into this game as Spurs.
Thomas Tuchel and co. will instead no doubt be much more focused on the Premier League title race and the Champions League.
Trevoh Chalobah likely to miss Tottenham game
Ahead of the first leg between the pair, Chelsea have been dealt some concerning personnel news.
The west London outfit took on Liverpool this past Sunday in an enthralling 2-2 draw.
During that game, Trevoh Chalobah had to be taken off after 70 minutes.
And now, as reported by football.london, Chalobah looks likely to miss out on the Tottenham game on Wednesday:
Chalobah is now set to be assessed by Chelsea staff on Monday, though he is likely to miss the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham on Wednesday at the very least unless he is given the all-clear following the assessment.
With Andreas Christensen missing out vs Liverpool due to injury, the Blues are now somewhat light in the centre-back department, especially if Cesar Azpilicueta has to continue deputising for Reece James at right-wing-back.
