Chukwuemeka Reacts After Making Chelsea Debut Vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Carney Chukwuemeka has expressed his delight after making his debut for Chelsea, in their 3-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Chukwuemeka, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in the summer, came on in the 86th minute in place of Conor Gallagher for his Blues debut.

And commenting on his first outing for Chelsea, Chukwuemeka wrote on Twitter:”Debut in blue💙& 3 Points😁Just the beginning. Thank you God🙏🏾.”

Goals from Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja gave Chelsea the comfortable win over Wolves.

It is now three consecutive wins and back-to-back 3-0 score lines for new Chelsea manager Graham Potter.

Born in Austria to Nigerian parents and later raised in Northampton, England, Chukwuemeka joined the Aston Villa academy from the Northampton Town academy in March 2016.

The 18-year-old midfielder signed his first professional contract with Villa in July 2020. He made his senior debut for the team on 19 May 2021 in a 2–1 away victory over Tottenham Hotspur, hitting the post within minutes of entering the game.

On 23 May 2021, he was named Aston Villa Academy Player of the Season for the 2020–21 season. The following day, Chukwuemeka was part of the Aston Villa U18s squad that won the FA Youth Cup, beating Liverpool U18s 2–1 in the final.

Chukwuemeka made his first senior start on 28 August 2021 in a 1–1 draw against Brentford, a performance former Arsenal star Paul Merson hailed as “outstanding”, adding “he will be an absolute star”.

He has featured for England’s U-17, U-18 and U-19 teams and is eligible to play for the Three Lions senior side, Nigeria and Austria.
