Chelsea’s Federico Chiesa interest confirmed
European champions Chelsea expressed a keen interest in the signature of Juventus star Federico Chiesa this summer, it has been confirmed.
The star of Italian wide-man Chiesa has of course continued its speedy ascent over the last 12 months.
A summer switch to Serie A heavyweights Juventus saw Chiesa waste little time in shutting down his many doubters, standing out as one of few positives amid an altogether difficult campaign for the Bianconeri.
All told, the 23-year-old racked up 15 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, all the while showcasing his remarkable versatility in looking equally adept on either the left or right flank.
It wasn’t until this past summer, though, that fans across the continent truly stood up to take notice of just what a special talent Chiesa truly is.
The explosive winger carried his stellar exploits at club level onto the international stage, as one of Italy’s key performers en route to the country’s deserved Euro 2020 triumph.
Chiesa found the net in both the competition’s last-16 and semi-finals, and was back at it once again last night, notching a wonderful solo effort during a World Cup qualifier versus Bulgaria:
“He’s not just good at it, he’s sensational at it.” 🔥

‘Tuchel likes him a lot’
With such standout performances, though, is always likely to come outside interest.
Back in July, for example, reports spread across the European media that Premier League heavyweights Chelsea had seen a mammoth bid for the Juventus attacker firmly rejected by those in a position of power at the Allianz Stadium:

Such claims, at the time, were widely denied, but, at the very least, it does appear as though Chelsea expressed an interest in Chiesa over the summer.
Speaking on Friday, Romeo Agresti, widely regarded as the no.1 source for Juventus transfer news, confirmed that the Champions League holders gave genuine consideration to tabling a proposal for the 23-year-old over the last couple of months.
This comes with Thomas Tuchel understood to be a big fan of Chiesa’s talents.
Significantly, however, it is also assured that Juve, for their part, would not have taken any such offer into consideration.
‘The club which concretely thought of formulating an official offer this summer for Chiesa was Chelsea. Tuchel likes him a lot. If an offer had arrived, I guarantee that Juventus wouldn’t have accepted it.’
“Le club qui a concrètement pensé à formuler une offre officielle cet été pour #Chiesa a été Chelsea. Il plaît beaucoup à Tuchel. Si une offre était arrivée, je vous garantis que la #Juventus ne l’aurait pas évalué.” 🇮🇹⚪⚫
