Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger reportedly makes worrying decision on his future

Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger reportedly makes worrying decision on his future

Rudiger a key part of Tuchel’s side

Under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel, Antonio Rudiger has been a man reborn playing on the left side of a back three.

Free to roam upfield with the ball, he has also demonstrated his no-nonsense attitude to defending, providing vital blocks and crunching challenges that can sometimes leave onlookers wincing.

However, Rudiger, along with fellow defenders Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen, has just 12 months left to run on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.

With this hanging over the club, it is easy to see why they pushed so hard for the signing of Sevilla’s Jules Kounde this summer, but the club ultimately failed to agree a fee with the Spanish club.

Spanish report suggests worrying update on future

Now in an altogether worrying turn of events, Spanish outlet Marca report that Rudiger has no intention whatsoever of signing a new deal in west London.

As per the report, Rudiger is thought to be demanding a salary of 10 million euros, around 160,000 pounds per week, while Chelsea are only willing to offer 6.5 million euros.

However, Marca continue:

“Chelsea’s German centre-back has decided not to renew his contract at Stamford Bridge and is planning on leaving the European champions on a free transfer at the end of the season.”

With Bayern Munich and Real Madrid both thought to be interested in the 28-year-old defender, where will he end up?
