Chelsea star Jorginho reveals who he would vote for to win Ballon d’Or

Jorginho nominated for Ballon d’Or

The Ballon d’Or award would take a break in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is once again back this year.

The top 30 nominations for 2021 would be released earlier this month and it is not too surprisingly, a list heavily featuring Premier League stars.

Manchester City would win the 2020/21 Premier league and then made it to the 2021 Champions League final.

This would see Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez named amongst the 30.

The eventual winners of the Champions League, Chelsea, would also have five players up for the award in the form of Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Cesar Azpilicueta and Romelu Lukaku.

Who Jorginho would vote for

Who, though, should win the 2021 Ballon d’Or?

There has been a lot of talk around Jorginho when it comes to contenders, after the Italian won the Champions League with Chelsea and Euro 2020 with his country.

Now, Jorginho has revealed who he would vote for if he was to get a vote this year.

And, after joking that he would vote for himself, the Chelsea star revealed he would give his vote to Manchester City star, Kevin De Bruyne:

“If I don’t vote for me, who will vote? I want to have at least one vote! Just kidding.”

“I believe I’d vote for Kevin de Bruyne for everything he’s been doing and for the beautiful football he’s been showing in recent years. For those who like football, it’s great to see him play because he understands football, he is a player with above-average intelligence.”

De Bruyne has not had the best year of his career in 2021, but Jorginho clearly respects the City man.
