Brighton vs Chelsea

Chelsea are set for a trip to the Amex on Tuesday evening where they will take on Graham Potter’s Brighton.

Chelsea head into the game on the back of a crushing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.

The loss means that Thomas Tuchel’s side are now 13 points behind league leaders Manchester City.

And whilst 13 points could still technically be made up by the Londoners between now and the end of the season, the prospect of City actually dropping that many points whilst Chelsea go unbeaten seems somewhat farfetched.

The Blues have now won just one of their last five Premier League outings and are in danger of being sucked into the battle for 4th place.

Tottenham can overtake Chelsea if they win their four games in hand, whilst Arsenal would be just a point behind them if they win their two games in hand.

So, though the title is pretty much out of the picture now, Chelsea still need to see off Brighton to ensure they maintain 3rd place for the time being.

Thomas Tuchel on Chelsea team news

Ahead of the game, Thomas Tuchel would speak to the press on Monday afternoon.

When doing so, the German discussed team news, confirming that Chelsea have no new injuries. However, the German added that nobody else is coming back for the Brighton game:

“We don’t have any new injuries, that is good news. But nobody is coming back for tomorrow’s game.”

That means that all of Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah and Andreas Christensen, who were all out vs Man City, will not be back on Tuesday.

This once again leaves Chelsea pretty light at the back and would also probably suggest Malang Sarr will be in for another PL start as well.
