Chelsea running ‘in-depth scouting’ on 21-year-old midfielder/ Andreas Christensen’s stance on Chelsea stay
Several updates concerning Chelsea’s squad going forward have emerged recently.
Chelsea eyeing Tchouameni
As per Goal, Chelsea have identified three key areas to work on in the next two transfer windows.
One of these is seemingly central midfield, with Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni said to be increasingly of interest.
But who is Aurelien Tchouameni?
21-year-old Aurelien Tchouameni currently plies his trade in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco.
Despite still only being 21, he now has over 70 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt, and has quickly become one of the division’s rising stars.
He is a very defensively sound player whose main focus is disrupting attacks and winning the ball back.
This was demonstrated well in 2020/21, when Tchouameni ranked joint-first for the most tackles and interceptions made in Ligue 1.
Tchouameni’s recent form would also see him called up to the France national team for the first time in his career at the back end of 2021.
And, according to the above-linked report from Goal, Chelsea are currently running in-depth scouting on Tchouameni ahead of a possible bid in the summer transfer window.
Christensen wants Chelsea stay
The same report has also provided an update on Andreas Christensen’s Chelsea situation.
The Dane is out of contract in the summer and currently on course to leave for free.
101 covered a report last week which claimed Christensen was waiting on an offer from Barcelona and, if that did not come, he would accept Chelsea’s offer.
However, Goal claim that Christensen is keen to remain in west London:
Christensen, meanwhile, remains keen to remain in west London despite being publicly criticised by Thomas Tuchel, which was subsequently published on the club’s website.
