Chelsea respond to Crystal Palace request to alter Conor Gallagher’s eligibility for FA Cup semi-final
Crystal Palace have seen a speculative request to Chelsea for Conor Gallagher to be granted permission to feature in the upcoming FA Cup showdown between the clubs rebuffed by their capital rivals.
Patrick Vieira’s Palace, of course, were pitted against the might of the European champions in the semi-finals of the FA Cup as part of last month’s draw.
Whilst Premier League title contenders Liverpool and Manchester City go head to head on the other side of the grid, the Eagles will take to Wembley on the 16th of April, hopeful of causing an upset to book their spot in the competition showpiece in mid-May.
Such endeavours would no doubt have been greatly aided by the presence of the aforementioned Conor Gallagher, in the midst of a starring season-long loan spell from none other than Chelsea.
Those in a position of power at Palace therefore opted to chance their arm, in sending an official request to their counterparts at Stamford Bridge for the all-action midfielder to be afforded the chance to feature in the upcoming Wembley clash.
Such a prospect would have been made possible courtesy of an amendment to the contract written up between the two clubs last summer.
As alluded to above, however, in the end, such efforts proved fruitless, with Chelsea having made clear that Gallagher will play no part in next weekend’s proceedings.

Turning attentions back towards the immediate job at hand at Crystal Palace, the Eagles, before making the trip to Wembley, will first turn their attentions back towards matters on the Premier League front this weekend.
This comes with Vieira’s troops set to make the trip to the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon, for a meeting with Leicester City.
All associated with Palace will no doubt head into the midlands clash confident in their chances of emerging with a positive result, fresh off the back of a 3-0 drubbing of London rivals Arsenal this past Monday night.
