Chelsea open contract talks with Edouard Mendy
Chelsea have reportedly opened contract talks with their number one shot-stopper, Edouard Mendy.
Edouard Mendy’s Chelsea stint
Chelsea have made a number of big signings over the last year or so.
All of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Romelu Lukaku have been brought into the club for fairly large fees.
Perhaps Chelsea’s best bit of business over the last few windows, however, has come in the form of Edouard Mendy.
The 29-year-old was signed from Stade Rennais for a fee believed to be around £21m.
Mendy has since gone on to usurp Kepa Arrizabalaga as the Blues’ no.1, whilst putting on some starring displays in the process.
Chelsea have won the Champions League with Mendy as their no.1 and now have the best defensive record in the Premier League so far this term, with Mendy clearly a big reason why.

Mendy set for new Chelsea deal?
Now, it looks as though Mendy is set to be rewarded for his fine start to life at Chelsea.
The goalkeeper is currently contracted to the Blues until 2025, with his current wage believed to be around £60,000-a-week.
This sum, as per Football Insider, is said to make Mendy a relatively low earner compared to most of his current Chelsea teammates.
The report adds that Mendy is set to be offered a new and improved deal by Chelsea which will include a significant wage hike.
FI go on to explain that those in a position of power at Chelsea are aware that Mendy’s deal is not in line with the first-team regulars in Thomas Tuchel’s side and are fearful he could be tempted by rival offers.
