A fresh insight into the January transfer plans of Premier League strugglers Newcastle United has been forthcoming on Thursday evening.
Minted Magpies
The subject of the upcoming winter window has of course proven a major talking point when it comes to the situation at St. James’ Park of late.
This comes on the back of the widely-discussed big-money takeover of Newcastle, which saw the club, now backed by the riches of the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, catapulted into the echelons of world football’s most wealthy sports organisations.

Unfortunately for those of a Magpies persuasion, however, the changing of hands at the forefront of the club, as of yet, has failed to culminate in an upturn in fortunes on the pitch.
In fact, after being held to a 1-1 draw by fellow relegation candidates Norwich City on Tuesday, Newcastle remain the only side in the Premier League yet to secure a 3-point haul this season.
The Geordie giants, in turn, remain rooted to the foot of the English top-flight table.

Lingard amongst those eyed
Such woes mean that it has therefore come as little surprise to see a whole host of high-profile stars tipped to make the move to the northeast of England following the turn of the year, in a desperate attempt to steady the ship at St. James’.
And, as alluded to above, on Thursday evening, an insight into four such targets on the part of Eddie Howe and co. has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of The Telegraph, who report that internal discussions amongst those in a position of power at Newcastle have thrown up a trio of Premier League stars, and one familiar face from La Liga, as January targets.
These players come in the form of Jesse Lingard, Harry Winks, Ross Barkley and Kieran Trippier:
