Chelsea going ‘head-to-head’ with Inter for Sosa
Reports coming out of Germany suggest Chelsea are eyeing the services of Borna Sosa.
As per football.london citing German outlet Sky in Germany, Chelsea are going head-to-head with Inter Milan for the signing of VfB Stuttgart defender Borna Sosa.
The 24-year-old is apparently being eyed as a replacement for Ben Chilwell, although the Bundesliga outfit are not keen on selling.
Who is Borna Sosa?
Borna Sosa would sign for Stuttgart in July of 2018, departing long-time club, Dinamo Zagreb.
Sosa has since featured on 70 occasions for the German side, notching three goals and 18 assists in the process.
Sosa, a natural left-back, has excelled in a back-five system as a wing-back and has scored two and assisted four in 17 games this season, largely from a left-wing-back spot.
The Zagreb native has also made his Croatia debut recently, notching five appearances since September of 2021.
Chelsea to miss out on Emerson?
Reports of Chelsea’s interest in Sosa come around the same time an update on Chelsea’s attempts to bring Emerson Palmieri back from his loan at Lyon emerged.
The news on that front, though, is not great.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Lyon have turned down three approaches from Chelsea for Emerson, aiming to keep the Italian until the end of the season.
Chelsea are said to have offered €4m in compensation, but Romano stated that a deal looks difficult now.
OL have turned down three approaches from Chelsea for Emerson Palmieri. They want too keep him until end of the season – not accepting €4m compensation. Tuchel wants Emerson but looks difficult, as of now. 🔵 #CFC
