Chelsea forward Armando Broja set to join Southampton on loan

Broja heading to St Mary’s

According to various reports, young Chelsea forward Armando Broja is on the verge of joining south coast outfit Southampton on a season-long loan.

As per The Athletic’s Simon Johnson, the deal will be completed “in the next few days”, with the nineteen year-old’s departure thought to be due to the imminent arrival of Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian is set to return to Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth 115 million euros, following two stellar seasons at Inter Milan.

Broja, as a result, would see little gametime, and has therefore decided that a loan would be best for all parties.

He joins Chelsea academy duo Valentino Livramento and Dynel Simeu at Saint Mary’s with the pair having made permanent moves away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Broja and Armstrong to share Ings workload

Southampton are chasing strikers after they sold their talismanic forward Danny Ings to Aston Villa last week.

In addition to Broja, they have reportedly agreed a deal for Blackburn Rovers forward Adam Armstrong who, as the more senior of the two, will be expected to bear much of the Ings burden. Broja, however, will certainly be a valuable addition to Ralph Hassenhutl’s side, and is far more likely to get consistent game time on the south coast than he was in west London.
