Thomas Tuchel has provided updates on a pair of Chelsea stars after their win over Norwich.
The Blues faced off with the relegation-battling outfit on Thursday evening and were clear favourites for the game.
So it was no surprise that Chelsea eventually came away with a 3-1 win.
During the game, Cesar Azpilicueta would be taken off at half-time, whilst Christian Pulisic was not involved.
Tuchel was then asked about the duo post-match and had this to say:
“He did not feel well, Christian, in the morning when we wanted to leave,” Tuchel stated.
“With the last examination, he had two bad nights, felt ill, felt sick, had a bit of change of temperature, body temperature felt hot, felt cold, felt hot, felt cold.
“That is why he did not feel good this morning so we decided to leave him at home and hopefully get rest and sleep and get back soon. So that was a last-minute change in the squad.
“At half time Azpi had the same. Azpi did not feel well. A bit of a stomach problem and pain so we decided to take him out. He did not feel good.”
Chelsea vs Newcastle
Chelsea’s next outing will see them face off with Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues head into the weekend’s action sat 3rd in the Premier League, a full nine points clear of 5th-place Manchester United who have actually played one more game than Chelsea this season.
So, it is probably fair to assume that Chelsea have likely already done enough to secure a top-four finish.
Newcastle, meanwhile, continued their fine run of form with a win over Southampton on Thursday. Said win put the Magpies 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
