Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel offers interesting excuse for Jorginho error vs Manchester United
Chelsea held by Manchester United
Chelsea and Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.
Chelsea headed into the meeting with Manchester United in much better form than their opponents on the day.
However, when all was said and done in west London, the points were shared.
Jadon Sancho, thanks to an error from Jorginho and some smart pressing from Marcus Rashford and Sancho himself, was able to open the scoring shortly into the second 45.
Chelsea were then able to bring things back on level terms after Aaron Wan-Bissaka gave away a pretty silly penalty, which Jorginho scored:

Tuchel offers excuse for Jorginho error
Following the game, Thomas Tuchel has defended the Jorginho error which led to the United goal.
🗣 “Jadon Sancho scores on the ultimate counter-attack!”
It has come out of nowhere, but #MUFC have capitalised on a woeful Jorginho error to lead #CFC 1-0.

Speaking after the Italian’s error, Tuchel suggested that Jorginho was heavily disturbed by the floodlights in the stadium on the day:
“He misjudged the situation and I think he was heavily disturbed from the lights. It happens.”
It is admirable for Tuchel to sit and defend his player, but as far as excuses go it is not great, especially when the floodlights didn’t seem to impact anyone else at any other time during the full game on Sunday.
